Empty Bowls Pottery Classes

Empty Bowls Summer Pottery Classes

Are you looking to try your hand at something new, and contribute to a great cause in the process?

This summer, Sensational Elora is holding pottery classes at the Elora Centre for the Arts in support of the Elora Empty Bowls Project. Let your creative side come alive as you learn from some of the best potters in the Centre Wellington area! Proceeds from the classes will go to local hunger-fighting organizations, and bowls made will be donated to the Empty Bowls Project.

Details

The fee is $30 and classes are 3 hours in length, taught by a local potter volunteering their time. Make as many bowls as you’d like, choose one to take home with you, and the rest will be donated to the Elora Empty Bowls Project. Proceeds from the classes will go the Empty Bowls Project, which raises money each year for local hunger-fighting organizations. Last year the project raised over $13,000 for the Centre Wellington Food Bank, and we’re hoping to top that in 2010!

Class Dates

Saturday, June 26th – 1:00 – 4:00 pm (Instructor: Pam Starratt)

Art-in-the-Yard, July 10th and 11th, 10:00 - 5:00 (Drop-in Class)

Thursday, July 15th – 6:00 – 9:00 pm (Instructor: Barry McCarthy)

UPDATE

The Elora Empty Bowls Project “Make Your Own Bowl” classes are now officially complete – and they were a great success! There were 150+ unique and wonderful bowls created from the classes, which translates into a potential $3750 raised! Great job everyone!

Thank you to all of our eager students who took part, thank you to our potters who volunteered their time to support the cause and a big thank you to Pottery Supply House who generously donated clay and glaze and to the Elora Centre for the Arts who donated their space.

Make sure you check out the student series of Empty Bowls for sale this October during Sensational Elora, as well as the beautiful pieces donated by our local potters, and help us fight hunger in our community!
