What is Empty Bowls? 

Empty Bowls events provide a means to raise both money and awareness about poverty and hunger in our communities.  Potters are the driving force behind these events, volunteering their time and energy to create soup bowls, which are then exchanged for money in support of local charities.  As part of Sensational Elora, area residents and visitors alike will have a number of opportunities to bowls and taste superb soups from area chefs and restaurants.

Our Empty Bowls event has set a goal of raising $10,000 in 11 days for our local Food Bank.

We encourage you to help make this happen.

There Are Three Ways to Get Involved:

One:
Throughout the 11-days of Sensational Elora, you can visit Styll Gallery, and choose from a large assortment of hand crafted pottery bowls. With your bowl, you will recieve a "soup ticket"  redeemable at participating local restaurants for a free scoop of soup. Your purchase will be packaged in a reusable tote as a reminder that you helped fight hunger.

Two:
Buy a ticket to the Sensational Soup Off on October 13th, Thanksgiving Day. Your ticket buys you a bowl and access to the Soup Off Event. You may pick up your bowl at the location on the day of the event.
The Sensational Soup Off promises to be a fabulous competition between local and celebrity chefs who will create memorable soups for the event.  Use your empty bowl to sample these soups & cast your ballot for the best soup!  Your bowl will be washed for you following the tasting and packaged in a reusable tote as a reminder that you helped to fight hunger.

Three:
Order online.  Go to our Sensational Elora Merchandise page and order a bowl.  We will choose a bowl for you and ship it to your home or to someone you care about, with a note about the project.
