Pumpkin Seeds !!!

Sensational Elora will soon be distributing pumpkin seeds to all local schools.  Children are then encouraged to grow their seeds.  This is a wonderful opportunity for families to share the miracle of agriculture while they watch their little seeds grow. To increase the success of your seeds it is a good idea to start them indoors.  Simple peat pots or containers with gardening soil work well.  Your little plants can be moved outside after the threat of frost has passed (After May 24th is the usual rule) Pumpkins need lots of space, sun and water so choose your location carefully, but remember container growing works great to add colour to your decks and balconies.  Pumpkin plants are vines and can be grown as such, however, you will need to support the fruit as it grows on the vine.  The seeds distributed by Sensational Elora are standard Jackolantern seeds.  They are hardy and easy to grow, providing children with easy success.  However, for our pumpkin contest feel free to choose any variety of seed.  Be Creative and have fun !!!

Our Pumpkin contest is expanding this year to be a whole day of celebrating the glorious pumpkin.  Pumpkin Day is Saturday October 9th and will include a concert by the Funky Mamas's and many family friendly activities that we are currently planning.  So save the date and continue to check out our site for more details...
