The Sensational Soup-Off
The Sensational Elora Soup-Off, is being held on Thanksgiving Day, Monday, October 11th, 2010, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. It will be the grand finale of Sensational Elora: A Festival of the Senses and the culmination of the 2010 Elora Empty Bowls Project. The focus of the Soup-Off is to raise funds for the Centre Wellington Food Bank. In addition to aiding the cause, this event gives cooks, both professional and amateur, a fabulous opportunity to showcase their flair for soup making. During this fun-filled day, these “super soupers” will be competing for the title of “Most Sensational Souper” as voted on by the tasting public. Chefs and cooks must pre-register by October 1st in order to participate in the competition.
Chefs and cooks are encouraged to use fresh, locally-grown ingredients, and provide a minimum of 20 quarts of their signature soup. Ticket holders in attendance can then enjoy samples of each competitor’s creation and mark their ballot for their favourites. Awards will be given in the following categories:
Bissell Park will be THE place to be on Thanksgiving Monday. The final day of Sensational Elora also includes: a Clay and Glass Show, live music, and loads of other entertainment. A great day filled with family entertainment for local residents and visitors alike.
Note: Electric outlets will be available for soup crocks and a bowl washing station will be provided. Every effort will be made to accommodate the needs of the chefs, including tables and heating elements if required.
