Sensational Elora’s Monster Month Returns Powered by Community Spirit
The monsters are stirring, and they have something important to tell our community: they are proud to belong to all of us. As Tim Murton, creator of the Twilight Zoo says, “It’s all about making scary things fun.” This October, these beloved creatures will once again fill Elora with spine-chilling wonder but only with help from the community that has embraced them as their own.
Monster Month is for kids of all ages, and it takes all of us to keep the magic alive. Recent events have reminded us of what matters most: staying true to our mission and the community that supports it. To be clear, there was no offer of monetary contribution for Sensational Elora or Monster Month in the recent cancelled promotion. We are powered by local spirit and welcome everyone who loves Monster Month.
If you would like to see Monster Month events continue to feature Elora and Centre Wellington as the worthy home of the creatures of the Twilight Zoo and continue to help combat food insecurity, we need your help.
The costs of insurance, care, feeding and medical attention for the monsters can be horrific! Every dollar you contribute stays right here working for our neighbours facing food insecurity.
WANTED!! Competitors for the Sensational Soup-Off
Everybody loves soup, and every country, nationality, and region has their favorite. You are invited to showcase your soup at our annual Sensational Soup-Off at the Wellington County Museum on Sunday, November 2nd from 1-4:00pm. Soup makers arrive at noon to set up to be ready to serve their delicious creations. Soup makers are also provided with $50 to assist with the cost of ingredients.

The Sensational Soup-Off and Empty Bowls Project has been a major fundraising event since Sensational Elora’s inception in 2008. Each year, up to 18 soup makers join us to compete for the prestigious title of “Super Souper of the Year” in three categories: Professional, Amateur, and Youth. The winner of each group will take home a beautiful, one-of-a-kind soup ladle donated by Metallic Evolution at Styll boutique. Help us raise funds to combat food insecurity in Centre Wellington while competing for a winning spot!
Hundreds of soup lovers will be out to enjoy a diverse selection of soups enjoying live music throughout the afternoon. Join us and display your soup-making skills for a crowd of enthusiastic soup lovers. We can’t wait to see (and taste) your sensational soups! Every dollar raised at this event goes to the CW Food Bank and The Eats program at the CW District High School.
The Empty Bowls Project is a labour of love by the generous potters who have supported our fundraiser by providing beautiful bowls that we sell to add to the funds raised. Each unique piece is a perfect memento of the event, and they also make meaningful gifts. We welcome more potters to be part of our Empty Bowls Project.
