Empty Bowls Project

October 14, 2024

Empty Bowls events provide a means to raise both money and awareness about poverty and hunger in our communities. Volunteer local professional potters are the driving force behind this event, volunteering their time and energy to create soup bowls which are donated to Sensational Elora, enabling fund-raising to combat food insecurity in Centre Wellington.

Bowls will be available at the Sensational Soup Off to be held on Thanksgiving Monday, October 14th, 2024, at Aboyne Hall. When you arrive at the Soup Off you will have an opportunity to choose from a fabulous selection of handcrafted bowls.

The Sensational Soup Off is an annual event where up to 18 professional, amateur and youth chefs will compete to become the “Super Souper” of 2024. Use your empty bowl to sample all of the soups and then cast your ballot for your favourites. At the end of the event, your bowl will be rinsed for you and your Empty Bowl is yours to take home.

Our 2023 bowl makers were:
Staci Barron, Vickie Braden, Jillian Dempster,  Murray Fox, Inga Gircyte, Lynn Gorwill, Claudia Lambert and Tim Smith
Stay tuned for our 2024 list.

Thank you to The Pottery Supply House & Tucker’s Pottery Supplies for contributing gift certificates (or clay) to the potters annually.

Sensational Elora thanks our generous sponsors:
